Leaf - Fiskars Remote

Designing a remote using Fiskars design language
The brief given was to design a remote controller limited to 5 buttons, which took the aesthetic and design language of the assigned brand (Fiskars).
Product: CNC controller with motion controls
This controller is designed for industrial use. It allows the user to control a cnc machine using motion controls.
Research
The research for this project was done through looking into the assigned brand. I analysed physical features of the brands product designs in order to see what makes the brand aesthetic. I also did research into the requirements of a CNC controller.

How might we?
How might we create a CNC remote which uses the design language of Fiskars?

Development of 3 unique concepts

Features of each concept:
Concept 1 features:
For this concept I considered a cylindrical area at the end of the handle, which might contain a screen.
Concept 2 features:
For this concept the focus was on ergonomics. I tried to create a design that fit the hand comfortable within it, and flowed around it.
Concept 3 features:
For this concept I decided to add a large back area which might contain a magnet, and a rising front area, making it easy to pick up

Development of chosen concept
I then went on to develop my chosen concept of the 3rd concept (leaf). I chose this concept because I liked the dynamic shape, and the ease of use. I also took a few of my favourite features from the other two.
I created a physical 3d foam model, scanned that, and re-modelled the product digitally, in order to get an idea of what the final product could look like. This was an earlier foam development based off the Log concept.
