In February of 2013, I joined Chicago-based psych rock band, Secret Colours. My initiation into the project involved learning two albums worth of back catalogue material on bass, as well as touring with the band throughout the Midwest and East Coast to promote their sophomore full length, Peach.

By summer of 2013, Secret Colours began writing new material from the ground up for what would eventually become Positive Distractions. In November of 2013, Secret Colours left Chicago and headed to Dripping Springs, TX to record an album worth of material at DandySound Studios with engineer, Dan Duzsynski. My role during the recording process included performance on a variety of instruments including bass, guitar, and piano, arranging, and producing.
In December of 2013, Secret Colour’s first single, “It Can’t Be Simple,” premiered on Stereogum. In January of 2014, the music video for “It Can’t Be Simple” premiered on SPIN. The video, which I directed and edited, received positive feedback from many different publications.
"Directed by bassist Eric Hehr, the clip functions as a three-and-a-half-minute throwback to the days of vintage technology, when listening to vinyl was more than a simple affectation and huge tape reels were actually used. Time-travel by pressing the play button above." (Kyle McGovern, SPIN.com)
The rest of Positive Distractions will be steadily released throughout the remainder of 2014, leading up to performances at Austin Psych Fest and SXSW 2014.
