Wordless book project by Collaborate Community 2018
I was honoured to be asked to illustrate a second book for their 2018 Dithakgo tša Gobala project.
It’s called Moruki - which means The Seamstress in Sepedi. It’s about a young girl who learns to sew and uses this skill to earn a living as she enters adulthood.
These books are based on the stories from parents and children in the Mamelodi community in Pretoria.
Wordless picture books allow readers to use the illustrations to create a story in a language of their choice, in the hopes of creating a love of books, reading and storytelling.
