BROWN BEAR CLAWS - Brown bear hunting salmon in the Russian River. The claws are incredible!

SEA LIONS AT REST - Sea lions on Prince William Sound, Valdez, Alaska

BROWN BEAR CLOSE - Very close, as a matter of fact. He popped out of the Russian River about 20 feet from me while he was hunting for salmon.

NORTHERN HAWK OWL - Never even knew these owls existed. According to what I've read, they act just kike a hawk.

WET BROWN BEAR - These bears have nothing on their minds but eating salmon.

TUFTED PUFFIN - Stretch those wings!

BROWN BEAR HUNTING - Every half hour or so this bear went on shore to eat his catch and then take a quick snooze...usually about one-half hour. He would then search the river for another meal and then jump in after it.

YOUNG SEAL - Immature seal lying on floating glacial ice off of the Meares Glacier, near Valdez, Alaska.

BROWN BEAR COMMENT - There are human salmon fishermen and fisherwomen everywhere in the river. The bear is the boss. He goes where he wants to go. Whenever he wants to.

BROWN BEAR HUNTING - Brown bears are very opportunistic hunters...if it moves, they will investigate.

GROWN BEAR WITH GULL - These bears steal from the gulls on a regular basis. They can not carry the carcases of the salmon so they are forced to abandon their meal when the bear approaches...or else they will end up as an appetizer.

HAPPY BEAR - After a successful afternoon of hunting salmon, all is well in this guys kingdom.
