Canadian Rockies Cattle Ranch

I had the pleasure of joining a Wolter and Katie as they did a cattle push on the Eastern edge of the Canadian Rockies. I grew up on a farm back home in Ireland and have been in and out of cattle sales yards for more than half my life. Farming has always been something that I've been very interested in and I've worked on farms in Ireland, England, New Zealand, and Australia so it was only a matter of time before my interest had me on a farm in Canada.
I left the city shortly after 3 am to meet up with Wolter and Katie at the ranch for 5 am. After some coffee, Wolter rounded up the horses and got them saddled up. At 6 am we were on the side of the road where no fewer than 6 other local cowboys/ranchers met us to help Wolter and Katie with the push. They rounded up the cattle and pushed them 6km west towards the mountains where they lease a block of land for grazing from the local government.
When we reached the pass they let the cattle rest for 15-20 minutes and then pushed them to the top of the pass where they will graze until winter before being moved back to the ranch.
It was a very cool experience and hopefully, I will get out again over the summer to join Katie and Wolter on more moves.
End.
