Here is how we arrived at a woodcut-style bear.  We wanted it to be in stride, strong, yet not menacing. This shows the process from preliminary sketches to final vector art.
We played with leg and head positions.
More experiments with body position and expressions.  I was missing the mark.
This is the pose that we landed on. Now to render it in the woodcut style...
